Oluwasegunfunmi Oluwayomi, with a towering height of 6ft, in a dark complexioned skin was born into a Christian Family of Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Ajayi Ogunyomi, with a brother and four sisters in Ilorin , Kwara State , in Nigeria . The third born and first boy of the family.
Segun attended the Saint Barnabas Primary school from 1980 -1986, and went on ahead to Government Secondary School , Ilorin from the year 1986 -1992 and also progressed to study music in Obafemi Awolowo University , one of Nigeria 's out standing Universities.
With the backing of eleven years experience Segun took up music by interest and has developed himself outstandingly. However, in the year 1996, he met the Lord in a concert and received a challenge to use his gift to worship God.
Oluwasegunfunmi Oluwayomi became a dynamic vessel that God is using as a tool in His hands in this dispensation. Oluwasegunfunmi stands out of the crowd through his unique way of worshipping God. With the instrument God has placed in his hands, saxophone, he worships God in the African way. He goes back to his heritage, and with his language rich in words, he worships his God. Oluwasegunfunmi can be described as a man who comes out of a humble background, and this humility has been imbibed into his nature. He seeks nothing but to please the Lord and one major way by which he does this is by worshipping Him.
He was given best trumpeter of the year 1996 by the organizer of Festival of Hidden Talents (Festival). He played at British Council with Kayode Olajide in the year 1999 in a concert called The Tripod.
Arugbo ojo, his debut alum was nominated the best gospel jazz of the year 2000 by the Academy for Creative Act organizer of the Award for Musical Excellence in Nigeria (A.M.E.N) and also nominated the best gospel Music of the year (Traditional) by the organizer of the Fame Music Award 2001. He was given the best saxophonist of the year 2001 by The Music Student Association of Nigeria (Obafemi Awolowo University Chapter).
Segunfunmi Oluwayomi was also one of the ministers that ministered at the crusade organized by the Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG) at the Lekki Beach in Nigeria in 1998 tagged “Divine Visitation” with a gathering of over seven million people.
He also ministered at the Holy Ghost festivals of 1999 and 2000 tagged “Victory At Last” and “Open Heavens” respectively.
He played at the praise 2000 and 2001 organized by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (Corner Stone Worship Centre Cambridge, Ma – USA ).
Performed at the presidential villa of Ogun State Government during the ceremony of His Excellency Chief Olusegun Osoba's second year in office.
He ministered at the breakfast with the president, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasabjo GCFR. Organized for revival and development in October 2001. |
